Heart Foundation welcomes appointment of CEO National

THE National Heart Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Garry Jennings AO as its CEO National for a period of three months and permanent Chief Medical Advisor (CMA), effective as of January 4.

Prof. Jennings will take over the role of interim National Heart Foundation CEO from outgoing CEO, Mary Barry following two years in the role.

Prof. Jennings has extensive experience in public health and cardiology and a long association with the National Heart Foundation as a former Board Member and long standing Chair of the National Heart Foundation’s Cardiovascular Health Advisory Committee.

Prof. Jennings has held the role of Directorship at Baker IDI for 14 years and is a cardiologist with a distinguished career in clinical practice. He has held previous roles as Director of Cardiology at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne and Chair of the Division of Medicine.

His clinical and public health research interests span the causes of prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and he is a regular media commentator. Prof. Jennings has published several books on heart disease aimed at the general public, in addition to more than 450 research publications.

The National Heart Foundation welcomes Prof Jennings to both roles and commends Ms. Barry on her exceptional achievements during her time as National Heart Foundation CEO.

The National Heart Foundation will be continuing its recruitment of a permanent National CEO.
