Clean water the perfect Christmas gift

POPULAR TV presenter Chris Bath wants Australians to “give the gift of clean water this Christmas.”

As an Australian Red Cross Ambassador, Chris Bath, has seen first hand how the humanitarian organisation is helping to supply clean drinking water and hand washing lessons for families in remote Timor-Leste.

“To witness something that genuinely changes people’s lives has been priceless,” Chris said.

The well-known TV host says something as simple as a pipeline to carry clean water from a mountain spring to a community tap can create a culture of better hygiene for the whole village.

“It is a long-term solution not just a Band-Aid fix,” Chris added.

One more gift to support the work of Red Cross can also provide a homeless teenager with a hot meal on Christmas Eve, a phone call each day for an older or isolated person to check on their welfare and support for people affected by bushfires or floods. “Give the gift of clean water this Christmas,” Chris said.
